Where most growing Firebase apps are

Firebase got your app live fast. Supabase gives you Postgres underneath: real queries, joins and row level security your whole team can read. We move your Firestore data, your users and their logins, and your files, while the app keeps running.

Screens need data from many collections Relational tables with real joins
Read costs climb with every screen Queries that fetch only what they need
Security rules are hard to reason about Access rules as tested Postgres policies
Reporting means exporting to sheets SQL your whole team can use

How we move a Firebase app to Supabase

Collections into tables

Supabase's own tooling copies each Firestore collection into a Postgres table. We go further, splitting nested documents into related tables your queries can join.

Logins that keep working

Firebase hashes passwords with scrypt. We bring its hash settings across and verify each password on first login, so users sign in as usual and never see a reset email.

Security rules rebuilt

Firestore security rules become row level security policies in Postgres. We write a policy for every access path and test each one against real roles before the cutover.

Storage and functions

Files move to Supabase Storage and Cloud Functions become edge functions or database logic. The app keeps running on Firebase until the moment traffic switches.

How it works

  1. 01

    Map the data

Every collection, rule, function and storage bucket gets mapped to its new home in Postgres before anything moves.

  2. 02

    Move and rehearse

Data, users and files move into Supabase and get rehearsed until counts and logins match, while Firebase keeps running.

  3. 03

    Cut over and hand off

A final sync, then traffic switches. You own the Supabase project, the code and the docs from day one.

Plan a Firebase migration

We came to Zeroic for one fixed-scope build and never left. Shankar Prasad built the AI into WordUp and kept finding more worth shipping - we doubled our retainer hours inside the first month. He tells us what's worth building before he builds it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Firebase to Supabase migration cost?

Code Rescue engagements start at $6,000 for 2-4 weeks. We agree the full price with you after the review, before any data moves. Want an outside view first? An audit, from $1,000, maps your data and rules before you commit.

Do users have to reset their passwords?

No. We carry Firebase's scrypt hash settings across and verify each password on the user's first login, so they sign in exactly as before.

What happens to nested Firestore documents?

They become proper related tables. Supabase's tools copy each collection as it is; we split nested data into tables you can query and join.

Does the app stay live during the move?

Yes. Firebase keeps serving your users while we rehearse the move. The cutover is a final sync and a switch of traffic.

Do we own everything you build?

Yes, 100%. You own the code, infrastructure, docs and credentials.
