Where most founders start
On Fiverr the seller does the packaging: a gig with up to three tiers, each with its own price, delivery time and revisions. Buyers pay upfront and the money is held until the order is done. We built a creative marketplace with escrow payments that reached 10k+ creators and was acquired.
What your v1 needs first
Packages, not proposals
Fiverr sellers offer up to three packages, each with its own price, delivery time and number of revisions. Packages make services easy to compare, so we get them right in v1.
Pay first, release on delivery
Fiverr charges buyers upfront and holds the money until the order is complete. We build that hold on Stripe Connect, so the money is released once the work is approved.
An order is a timeline
Every order has a due date, a delivery and a set number of revisions. Put those statuses in the data model early, so late orders and disputes are easy to spot and settle.
Launch fast, add the extras next
Listing a gig, buying, delivering, revising and getting paid go live first and work every single time. Seller levels, promoted gigs and custom offers follow once sellers are in.
How it works
- 01
Scope your v1 (week 1)
On free calls we pick the one transaction your marketplace has to prove and fix scope and price before you pay. Week 1: data model and payments.
- 02
Build both sides (weeks 2-5)
Gig listings, checkout, orders, delivery and revisions, with working software every week. The engineer building it is the one on your calls.
- 03
Launch and support (week 6 on)
We ship to production, hand over the code, docs and credentials, and stay on for 6 weeks of support while the first orders go through.
Starting at $12,000
A marketplace v1 is an MVP Sprint: fixed scope and fixed price, agreed before the build. Sprints start at $12,000. More on what it takes: marketplace app development.
Talk about your marketplaceThey built the admin, supply, and demand interfaces for our hospitality staffing platform on no-code. Result: 60% fewer admin actions, 2,000+ gig workers onboarded, and manual onboarding time cut meaningfully. Prompt and professional throughout.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to build an app like Fiverr?
A focused v1 is an MVP Sprint, live in 5-6 weeks. Sprints start at $12,000, and we fix the final price with you upfront, based on the order flow, payments and how many seller tools you need. Adding this to a product you already run? A retainer from $4,000/month fits better.
How is an app like Fiverr different from one like Upwork?
On Fiverr, sellers list packaged services and buyers check out like a shop. On Upwork, clients post a job and choose from proposals. The order flow and data model differ, so we help you pick the model first.
Do we need to hold payments?
If buyers pay before the work is done, yes. Holding the money until delivery protects both sides and makes refunds and disputes much simpler to handle.
Do we own the code?
Yes, 100%. You own the code, infrastructure, docs and credentials.
